Entretiens avec Thomas Ostermeier
Paris, 2001
In 1999, I entered the Maison des Conservatoires, a public acting school in Châtelet- les Halles in Paris. My drama teacher Michel Archimbaud asked me what my dream was as a young actress. Attracted by the emblematic stagings and writing of contemporary theatre, I replied: to do an interview with the director Thomas Ostermeier, who, along with Sasha Waltz, a no less terrific German choregrapher, had just taken over the direction of the Schaubühne, the legendary theatre in West Berlin.
No sooner said than done. I travelled by Eurolines bus to Berlin, where we recorded two interviews with Thomas Ostermeier in the offices of the Schaubühne by dictaphone, and back in Paris we wrote them down, translated and published them (with a funny little mistake in the spelling of my first name).
