Disco music emerged in the 1970s as a global musical phenomenon that is still going strong today. Seven theatrewomen are going to take these hits and sing about love in a playful, quirky and joyful way.
The idea to collaborate was born during a workshop organised in November 2023 by “La Curieuse” (Emilie Maquest) and supervised by Ingrid von Wantoch Rekowski. The aim was to explore the Big Band (as much a musical body as a physical music) and to transpose Donna Summer's I feel love into a theatrical setting. These wild explorations inspired a number of performers to continue the adventure.
LOVE BAND wants to create a repertoire and a theatrical form that will allow us to (re)discover the energy of this music and its incredible freedom through a singular, physical language.
