Afro Electro Punk Duo

On 13 April 2025, MAM6K and Susi Vogel, supported by the label Doudou Records and the asbl Chahut, gave a live hybrid modular & DJ set in an old steel factory in Molenbeek, Brussels.

The two artists have known each other for many years. Both studied theatre, worked on their vocal technique and performance art, both write poetry, and both discovered electronic music as the pinnacle of their personal artistic expression. Collaboration makes you stronger, and so, after several joint residencies during which they conducted laboratory-like artistic research into voice and electro-acoustic music, Sika and Susi decided to form a duo.

This hybrid set-up combines two practical approaches. On the one hand, there is the classic DJ mix in Afro Electro style, which finds its way through classic techno bangers and traditional to modern music with African influences. On the other hand, there is experimentation with modular synths, samplers and rhythm machines, which are mixed into the mix. The whole thing is spiced up with a performative vocal act by both musicians. With so much originality, you can't help but dance.

The two artist gave another show for the 20th anniverary of independent librairy Terra nova in Toulouse (France) the 24th of May 2025.

This concert was about promoting the release of the EP Dada is not dead. So there was a full-length programme in cabaret form. The first part consisted of a concert with poetry performance, accompanied by a live electronic act. The second part invited the audience to dance with a hybrid Afro Electro Punk DJ set mixed with MAM6K's experimental touch and a theatrical vocal act!
