"Le prix Archives de la parole/BNF récompense l’artiste sonore Marie Guerin."

"How do you use a researcher's recording to recompose music for the 21st century? Two completely different stories are born from the same documentary material, the Lautarchiv's collection of 78s." Marie Guérin

In Césaré (France), at the Abbaye de Noirlac (France), and then at the Studio für Elektroakustische Musik in Berlin, she set off in search of the echo produced by these archives reinjected into tape recorders, these ‘ghost machines’ (cf Gilles Deleuze: ‘Radio and other devices designed to electrify speech are 'ghost machines'’) seeking a form of decantation of the medium. Over the course of the play, she develops her response to these soldiers, whose words are carried by the retransmission of the captivity diaries of a French prisoner, Charles. Dialogue between Marie, Charles and the ritornello.

Production: Deutschlandfunk Kultur/ France Culture/ Elektroakustisches Studio der Akademie der Künste Berlin 2017, with the support of Césaré
